Five unique motions
The mamaRoo bounces up and down and sways from side to side, just like parents do when comforting their babies.
Car Ride: A figure eight on its side
KangaRoo: Lots of up-and-down, less side-to-side
Tree Swing High on the sides, low in the middle
Rock-A-Bye: Low on the sides, high in the middle
Ocean Wave: Around in a big circle
Lie Back and Relax:
The mamaRoo’s recline is designed to be as flexible as possible to allow for baby’s comfort, but also to keep baby safe. EN standards require that baby swings recline no further than 30 degrees from horizontal to prevent the risk of suffocation, and our expert consultants suggested the seat sit up no straighter than 50 degrees from horizontal to accommodate very young children whose heads need support. Accordingly, the mamaRoo’s seat reclines from a 49 degree angle to a 33 degree angle, allowing a few degrees of leeway for the flexibility of the fabric seat. Within that safe range, the mamaRoo’s recline is completely adjustable.
Speeds for Play or RestThe mamaRoo’s speeds were chosen for two reasons: safety and comfort. Making those choices was a challenge, though, because there’s a very real difference between how a motion looks and how it feels. Think about the swinging pirate ship rides at amusement parks: they look like they’re moving slowly, but step on and you’ll find that’s not the case. The mamaRoo’s motions were chosen for how they feel, and most importantly, for how they feel to an infant. What seems slow to an adult may be just right for a baby, and that’s what we’ve seen time and time again with the mamaRoo. We’ve done extensive field research, and babies consistently love the mamaRoo and find it very soothing.
